Doucebaggery Is Quite Popular 'Round These Parts

February 21 / 8AM

After blogging for, I don't know, five or so years now, I decided to setup some tracking scripts to figure out where the two people that read my site are coming from.

Firstly, let me say that I went with StatCounter.com. They offer a free "basic" package that provides a buttload of information - what visitors are searching for, what countries they're in, length of time spent on each page, etc. It's fascinating really. I'm checking it perhaps half a dozen times a day.

Which brings me to my second point - an unexplained phenomenon that's left my baffled. Nearly 40% of visitors arriving to my site are doing so via Google/Yahoo/MSN keyword searches for "douchebaggery". Before about two weeks ago, I wasn't even aware this word was part of the English lexicon (incidentally, dictionary.com returned no results).

The page pertaining to "douchebaggery" that's apparently become so popular can be found here.

With all the power and knowledge the internet affords us, this is what people are searching for?

Hahaha ... damn, web. Those are much better than mine. Just out of curiosity, are you specifically targeting "donkey punch dirty sanchez" with your SEO efforts? If so, please discuss. I'm thinking about using Google AdSense on this site specifically for the "dirty sanchez" crowd and would like to hear your thoughts. Just in case you were curious, according to Overture, there were nearly 30,000 searches last month for that keyword alone. Perhaps that's a demographic that's worth looking into?
